What are we looking for?
KOMPAS is hiring a Chief of Staff to join the team. Reporting to the Managing Partner, this is a strategic operational role for an exceptional project manager and systems thinker who will architect and drive the KOMPAS operating model in a high-growth, early-stage VC environment. Working alongside our Partners (Investment & Operating), you will support with translating strategic vision into execution at scale while managing complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives across investment and platform teams.
You will have significant influence across the organisation, building the frameworks and processes that enable us to scale from Fund I to Fund II and beyond. This role offers exposure to diverse stakeholders - from Partners and LPs to portfolio companies and corporate partners - while leading cross-functional projects that directly impact fund strategy and performance.
You will be responsible for implementing and optimising operational workflows, ensuring seamless information sharing across investment and platform teams, and driving accountability through systematic tracking of KPIs, OKRs and commitments across the organisation.
Your Responsibilities
- Drive the KOMPAS operating model working with the Operating Partner to implement scalable processes, systems and frameworks across investment and non-investment teams
- Create and embed KPI & OKR tracking systems, ensuring all team goals align to KOMPAS fund objectives, with regular monitoring and reporting
- Optimise information sharing workflows between Partners, investment team, and platform specialists, eliminating current approval bottlenecks and communication gaps
- Build performance management processes including regular check-ins, commitment tracking, and accountability mechanisms
- Develop operational documentation, creating playbooks, process guides and frameworks that enable consistent execution and knowledge transfer
- Enable cross-functional collaboration by facilitating communication and coordination between investment and platform teams
- Manage organisational knowledge, ensuring important decisions, processes and learnings are documented and accessible
- Drive efficiency improvements by identifying process bottlenecks, manual work opportunities, and operational friction points
- Implement tools and technology solutions working with Partners to optimise workflows and reduce administrative burden
- Support organisational scaling by building processes and systems that can handle 2x current portfolio without proportional resource increase
Partner Project Leadership & Strategic Support
- Maximise Partner productivity by minimising time spent on operational and administrative tasks, enabling focus on investment activities
- Provide strategic project management for cross-functional initiatives, research projects, and strategic priorities with clear timelines and deliverables
- Prepare high-quality presentations and reports for Partners, LPs, and internal stakeholders with exceptional attention to detail
- Support fundraising activities through deck building, LP materials preparation, and process coordination
- Ensure Partner preparedness for key events, meetings and decisions through meticulous planning and information synthesis
- Coordinate Partner meetings and communications including agenda preparation, action item tracking, and follow-up coordination
Example of 12-24-month goals
- Implement a comprehensive OKR/KPI tracking system with monthly Partner reporting and quarterly team reviews
- Reduce Partner non-investment time by 20% through improved processes, delegation frameworks and administrative support
- Build scalable information sharing systems eliminating current approval bottlenecks and reporting confusion
- Create operational playbooks covering all core processes (deal flow, portfolio management, fundraising, team management)
- Design and implement performance management system with regular check-ins and commitment tracking
- Establish Fund III-ready operational infrastructure including documentation, reporting systems and governance frameworks
- Build technology stack and workflow optimisation reducing manual administrative work by 30%
- Support successful fundraising through expert materials preparation and process management
Qualifications & Profile
- Operational excellence mindset with proven track record building scalable processes and systems in high-growth environments
- VC / Consulting / CoS experience; ideally 3-5 years in relevant environment working on strategic project management, driving operational efficiency, and managing multiple stakeholders
- Expert project management skills with ability to coordinate complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives and drive accountability
- Strong attention to detail combined with strategic thinking to build systems that scale and improve over time
- Communication and presentation skills; will support with preparation of key presentations and documents for LPs, fundraising and key external stakeholders
- Process design and optimisation expertise translating operational challenges into systematic solutions and frameworks
- Technology-forward approach leveraging tools and automation to drive efficiency and reduce manual work
- Stakeholder management; able to influence and coordinate across Partners, platform team, and external stakeholders
- Entrepreneurial problem-solving with commercial judgment to prioritise initiatives balancing multiple competing demands
- Cultural fit for remote-first, fast-paced environment with ability to maintain team
